My take… It matters individually. As many have already pointed hygiene is a definitely concern.
But this can not be generalised either. Even when u think about within family… I never liked taking anything from others plates. As I grew up and had to move to different places i was surprised to see people sharing food and using their hands to pick things from each other’s plates. Never notices any religion differences there as well.
When you really learn(suppose that’s what education is for!) One should not discriminate based in religion, caste. Should be sharing food, thoughts, duties, rights to build strong family, society, nation.
