Salman Farsi was a zoroastrian before converting to Islam after he met Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) at Madina.

He became one of the most senior and celebrated followers of the Prophet (pbuh).

After he arrived in Medina he was employed by a Jew Lady landlord who refused to let him go when he converted to Islam. The Prophet was willing to pay for this slave but she refused. After negotiations she demanded that Salman must plant new date trees in a land of hers and until the first harvest he must remain as her slave. Prophet agreed. Salman was worried. Prophet took Ali ibn AbiTalib with him at that land and Ali started planting baby date plants and Muhammad watered them. The next day the plants started giving their first harvest. The Lady land lord also converted to Islam.
