Oh yes we do, for example during my tour in Iraq. We were an on old Iraqi air force base, our positions were attacked by insurgents. The following morning we received a radio call from our Battalion HQ to have 2 medics, an NCO, and our BAS surgeon go to the front gate to do a preliminary autopsy on some insurgents.

We arrive there with the knowledge that there were 6 KIAs. I enter the guard shack and count only 5 body bags. The guards inform me they ran out of body bags and had to put 2 bodies in 1 bag. Me, SPC Ireland and SPC Bluedevil ( not real names for their privacy ) the Doc open the bags and start going to work.

One sorry bastard had an entry wound from a 7.62 mm machine gun under the jaw and exited the back of the skull. SPC Ireland crouches down and says to the corpse “what the hell were you thinking” and SPC Bluedevil replies “obviously nothing look he’s got no brain”

At this point everyone in that hot, smelly guard post busted out laughing. War is a grim matter, even gallows humor is needed to keep your sanity.
