  1. Not very. We were helping train a navy reserve P-3 crew after being waved off a TORPEX due to Hurricane David. At periscope depth they could not find us. We were watching them circling around looking for us. Finally we had mercy on them, got them on the radio and vectored them in with a “mark on top” as they passed overhead. We dropped the scope, pulled the plug and headed deeper leaving a knuckle as we disappeared and cleared that location. Sonobuoys being expensive, I don’t think they were allowed to use them so they were quite limited. I think we repeated the process a number of times before they needed to head back to base. A good time was had by all.
