Yes driving is tons of fun! Driving fast cool cars isn’t as fun as you think, the most fun are cars are usually the worst.

Huh? Is this guy stupid? Let me explain:

My daily driver is now a Subaru STi, 6 speed, tweaked to push out around 400hp. It’s an absolute joy to drive in the snow or down a twisting road. It sucks to drive in stop & go traffic, it guzzles fuel, it’s spendy to maintain, and you can’t just put your foot down and bang through the gears, because in under 5 seconds you’re breaking every speed limit in the state. It’s just flashy enough that most people think you’re a fast n furious toolbag, and the cops just look for a reason to pull you over. You’ll have some fun racing that sporty car around until you realize that pads & rotors are $2000, a clutch is $3500, hell just an oil change is $100, so you’ll worry about breaking your fancy ride. Think a Corvette or Ferrari will be better? Nope, same problems but now everyone thinks you’re having a midlife crisis or have a tiny male member.

The most fun I’ve had in a car was in a 1984 Toyota Corolla with a whopping 90hp. I was sorely disappointed at 16 to be presented with that underpowered rustbucket. It was the fastest car I’ve ever driven. Why? Because I didn’t give a shit what happened to it. You could rev it out to the limit any time you wanted, fling it through turns, do donuts in parking lots and inevitably, put it in a ditch and it didn’t matter. Repairs were cheap, and often completed with parts pulled from wrecked cars for $50 instead of $2000 performance parts.

Love your first car, you’ll never be more free behind the wheel.
