On the Partition of India in 1947, was the creation of Pakistan a mistake? If you could set the clock back, would you prefer Pakistan being part of greater India?

Partition, on the whole was beneficial. If not for it, India would have been the breeding ground for Islamic extremism. Not to mention possible civil wars between Hindus and Muslims. It would have been totally ungovernable.

Current problems are a result of a) Nehru’s stupidity b) Mostly Pakistan’s gradual mullah-isation

Edit: In addition, please note that the call for a Muslim homeland existed a good 30 years before partition and would not have been something that the politicians at that time could have ignored. A united India would have been at war with itself…perpetually, ending up like the Central African republic.
