England is not the United Kingdom/Britain, it is one of the 4 countries that make up the UK
London is an international city that bears no relationship in culture, style and cost to the rest of England
Rental cars are 99% stick shift
Irony is used in every conversation. The literal meaning is quite frequently not the intended meaning
English people usually hide what their true intentions and beliefs are.
Public transport is usually cheap, safe and readily available
Cold, fizzy beer is sold everywhere
Curry/Indian is the national food
No one is interested in your ancestors
You can drink in public
People drink more, but your best friend will phone the police if you try to drive with even one drink
There are ghettos in most major cities
500 miles is a long distance, 500 years a short period of time
If the order is taken at the table you tip, if there are numbers on the table you order at the bar and do not tip
People are not black – they are Nigerian, Jamacian, Ghanaian, South African. There is no such thing as a ‘black identity’ – your identity is defined by nationality
English people are prejudiced on culture – not skin colour
Don’t expect to promote US health care and guns laws and expect to be taken seriously
