What do Americans think about Hindus?

I like Hindu’s in many aspects but dislike some of them in only two aspects.

They are nice people, hard workers, and have assimilated well to American culture while maintaining their own cultural identity. I admire their strong beliefs to family (even though I question, but don’t judge, on why they have arranged marriages), they also place a lot of emphasis on education and are law abiding citizens. Nothing to complain about there. I am personally a big fan of Karma and is a standard of life I like to live by.

The two things that I don’t like about some (not all) is that some of them have VERY poor hygiene and don’t do things like wear deodorant and come out in public smelling like a 1000 year old turd (most of these people are generally older). Some of the ones that work in restaurants (particularly Subways) don’t wash their hands or try to keep their workplaces clean (eww, gross). The other thing I don’t like is that some of them are dishonest consumers. They’ll try and change price tags on things and expect it for that price (not honest) and some people will try to use 50 dollar coupons (not literally) on 1 dollar items and insist that the coupons are good for those particular products (again not honest, at least in my eyes).

Indians are and will continue to be welcome in America (barring something tragic like a 9/11 which based on their religious and cultural beliefs seem impossible to even imagine). Hopefully the poor hygiene and consumer dishonesty (at least in my eyes) is only a generational thing that will pass in time since Indians are relatively new to America (at least in the quantities that are here today)
