What experience have members of the special forces had of people claiming to be of the special forces, and how have you dealt with them?

We were at a bar, talking about where to go fishing and a couple of guys came in, told the barman they were SAS.

These guys looked at us and deduced we were military, so swaggered over and said they were SAS just back from Vietnam.

So Ivan, our team leader started Gosh, what was it like? Did you ever kill anyone etc. So these guys bought pitcher of beer to our table and told us tales of daring do etc. while we sat in awe and sipped away.

Peewee Johnson, a guy who was almost a legend saw us and Ivan called out, come here. These guys are SAS. Great guys buying us beer. So Peewee joined in and asked if it was true they could parachute and other guns ho stuff.

The beer flowed and at 10 pm closing – shows how dated this event happened. We all stood up and solemnly shook these two guys hands and departed.

I think it was Sam who said. Now I know why we need to be humble- it gets free beer all night.
