Absolutely wonderful. I found it a bit more expensive but well the swiss border is just a few kilometers away and Lugano and Milan are nearby and well connected by train and bus services. Como is on the Zurich-Milan line and the eurocity stops here. You can visit many cities in Italy and in Switzerland easily from Como. The duomo is absolutely enchanting and perhaps one of the best i ever went to.It is pretty much a relaxed life.I can imagine people retiring here or coming here for the holidays. The people who live here are lucky indeed. i am suited to a life in such a place from childhood and found it absolutely mesmerizing when i lived in Como for sometime. I volunteered at a place nearby as well and the pace of life and the people amazed me. The guys from the city maynot really like it in the long term. For them Milan is always there nearby.1 hour away by train .

Another thing is that there are a lot of other beautiful towns and villages apart from como around the wonderful β€˜lake como’ . Como maybe touristic but once you visit these small villages and towns , the true beauty of these towns will mesmerize you. Some of my favourite places around the lake como are Menaggio , Bellagio , Porlezza etc. Brunate is easily accessible by funicular from Como(10 mins). Great views of Como from all around. There are other lakes as well nearby. One of my sweetest (literally) memories is the visit to the chocolate factory in Lecco. Oh yes like others mentioned , there is a seaplane base there and you will find these planes on the air over the lake almost all the time πŸ™‚

In Como , there are a lot of tourists from the UK and the US. So you easily hear a lot of English. Besides many celebrities including from Hollywood has villas on the lake. So i guess it is definitely worth it to live here. I wish i had stayed back and i would have if i was born here. Como and its surrounding villages is certainly a dreamland. Winters arent boring either. The snow clad peaks looming over the blue lake while a christmas market is functioning right in the middle of the city. with its skate rink and many shops. The duomo and most of the city decorated and heavily laden with christmas lights. what more could you ask for πŸ™‚ Just go to google images and search for the place πŸ™‚ The pictures will tell the story.

i wish i could visit and probably live again. Somethings you will continue to miss even if you grow old. Im really jealous of the people living there πŸ™‚ The locals maynot find it so beautiful because they are used to it and well honestly yes , there are even better places in northern italy and switzerland or even cinque terre , lake garda , amalfi coast etc but all are not so far from Como and it has the advantage of the good location on the border and is well connected πŸ˜‰ . Well we are talking and comparing with some of the best places in the world here ! So for me, como fares among the top not just because of its beauty but because it was my home for many months. im actually homesick (for como) when i talk about this. unforgettable.
