PCB earned $2.6m from the last PSL [Source]. This time, the tournament has grown even bigger and better, with more excitement, sponsors and passionate foreign cricketers. Najam Sethi (Chairman PSL) has already claimed profit increment compared to last year, and it is even helping out PCB in its development.

Let’s move on to the stats now. Here is how PSL tournament is going to earn:

1- Tickets

Gaddafi Stadium Lahore can house around 27,000 spectators. Here’s a map:

Each enclosure has different ticket price ranged from $5 to $110. The stadium isn’t just going to host the cricket match, a closing ceremony is also announced for that day.

VIP-PKR 12,000 (Catered)

Imran Khan, Fazal Mahmood, Waqar Younis (New Enclosure at Far End), Wasim Akram (New Enclosure at Far End).

First Class PKR 8,000

Javed Miandad, Rajas Enclosure, Abdul Qadir and A.H. Kardar

Premium Enclosure PKR 4,000

Imtiaz Ahmed, Hanif Mohammad, Zaheer Abbas, Saeed Ahmed, Majid Khan, Inzamamul Haq, Quaid’s Enclosure, Nazar

General Admission PKR 500

Sarfraz Nawaz, Saeed Anwar

Assuming that all the tickets were sold on the mentioned prices, the total amount earned is:

$600k (Approximation based on seat count and pricing)

2- Sponsors

Sponsors were crucial in bringing PSL to one of the biggest leagues of Cricket around the world. Whether its HBL, Boom Boom Bubble or Qatar Airways, their support brought quality and excitement to Pakistani Cricket.

Each team franchise is averagely priced above $11m and the highest priced team worths $26m [Source] (for ten years of contract). And each team is paying $1m avg to their players and mentors.

More big companies are coming to Pakistan to take benefit of PSL’s worldwide viewership. HBL is managing the event in UAE and in Lahore in collaboration with Pak gov. The amount they have spent is surely enormous for PCB.

There is no exact amount from sponsors, but it is sure that each sponsor will compete with the other by bidding more bucks.

Pakistani Army and Government are collaborating to keep the event safe and peaceful. And keeping in view that all the security officials and armymen are salary paid, PCB will not be paying them separately. PCB will be earning more than enough to host more PSLs in the coming years and the quality will surely be improvised
