  1. It expands to Megabits per second. Its different from MBps as Megabytes per second is a different term. The normal conversion can be done using a small fact :

    1 byte = 8 bits

    Usually broadband speeds are mentioned in Mbps to make them seem huge. Hence, when they say we have 8 Mbps speed it actually gives us 1MBps speed for downloading according to our phone and laptop (PC) standards. Like this every speed get slashed by the factor of 8. For example 1 MBps means 128 kbps downloading.
