I’m not the parent, but the kid. The weirdest thing I know of my mom being contacted for (and she still likes the story of it) is this one time in second grade i tried to rented out a watch to another kid. It was a cheap Spy Kids watch I got from a McDonalds happy meal. I don’t like watches (then or now) so I didn’t really care for it. I heard another kid in my class say he wanted one but didn’t get one during the promotion, so i offered to sell it for 5 dollars. I bring it in the next day, we trade, one would assume this was fair. Actually, my teacher heard about it and did not approve. Apparently I was breaking a school rule about not buying/selling merchandise on school property. He makes us trade back, I give back the 5 and the other student gives me back the watch. A couple hours later, I get the bright idea that if I’m not allowed to sell anything, I can rent it indefinitely. We make the trade again during recess. At the end of the day, as the kid was getting on the bus and I was in the bathroom (i got picked up) the teacher saw the kid wearing the watch and figured put I had sold it to him again. Too bad, since the bus was leaving and I was in the bathroom, the teacher wouldn’t have been able to make us trade back again, so the transaction was final. I get reported by the teacher for breaking a school rule and for talking back when I inform him I didn’t sell it, i rented it. My mom tried to argue with him that he had to admit it was hilarious (he disagreed) and she took me out for ice cream afterward.
