Ok, I’m going to provide two different answers to this one. The first involves a couple of bizarre events that I witnessed, the second a couple of strange things that I overheard from loved ones.

First, mine…

From Sep. 2001-Mar. 2004, I lived in an apartment complex in Andover, Massachusetts, that bordered on a wooded area. Very rural place, with a beautiful small town area not far off. A couple of times during that period, I had run-ins with animals so surreal that they seemed fictional. The first: a large, emerald green slug with the most expressive face I’ve ever seen on an insect – almost a human face… it craned its head up and stared right at me, with two beady eyes… It looked like something out of a sci-fi movie, that’s just how anthropomorphic it was. As I stared back at it in total disbelief, a car drove up and put its brights on me, and for a moment I thought I was the fall guy in one of those hidden camera reality pranks. In a second incident, my roommate, Alan, and I heard shrieking and screaming emanating from the woods opposite the road that bordered the complex – we looked out and saw what appeared to be monkeys or lemurs racing through the tops of the tree branches. Alan went outside to investigate, and one of the creatures scurried down from the tree and out onto the pavement, right in front of him, sat on its haunches, and stared at him. As he backed up, slowly, it began to follow him – then turned around abruptly and ran back into the woods. We were at a loss for words. We never saw the animals again.

Now for the overheard events… There are two.

The first happened on a weekend evening around 1986 or 1987 – our family had just moved to one of Detroit’s northern suburbs, Birmingham, MI. While running an errand just off of Woodward Avenue, my dad looked up and saw a car being driven by a young couple (a white couple, late teens or early 20s) – careening down the road at high speed. The man and woman were frightened out of their minds and were being pursued by another car driven by two men in Klan-like hoods who were clearly terrorizing them for some bizarre reason. The couple whipped around to the back of the Birmingham Police Station, jumped out of the vehicle, raced up to the rear door (which was locked, apparently) and began violently pounding to gain entrance. Upon seeing this, the men in the hoods gave up and kept driving.

The second happened around 2013 or 2014 – my girlfriend at the time was living on the second floor of an apartment complex in Canton, Michigan. One evening around dusk, she looked through her window and saw a small craft suspended in mid-air, covered in glowing lights; it floated up to a distance of about 50 yards from her window, then zipped away and disappeared.

I could speculate all day long on the explanation for those last two. The hooded pursuit: maybe a fraternity prank or hazing stunt gone awry? Or perhaps the pursuers WERE Klansmen and had it in for this couple, for some reason. The second sounds UFO-ish, of course, but a drone is much more probable.
