What would a war between the U.S. And Iran look like?
For Iranian people, it would resemble real hell no doubt about it.
Many military men and civilians would die. The country’s infrastructure would be severely damaged. Many civil services would cease to function. There would be long blackouts, widespread shortages of necessities, and many more.
The US would try to use its firepower utilizing its standoff weapons like the tomahawk land-attack crouse missiles to bring Iran to its knees. But science Iran also has standoff missiles of its own in vast numbers and can inflict serious damage on the US bases in the region causing heavy casualty on its casualty sensitive enemy; for the US it can’t go on for long, and it would have to be stoped.
So the US might decide to set up a no-fly zone over Iran and conduct extensive aerial missions to hunt down Iranian mobile and underground silo-based ballistic and cruise missile launchers. But considering Iranian robust indigenous air defense capabilities along with its vast, rugged and mountainous terrain that makes it ideal for hiding and setting up ambushes on enemy aircraft, that wouldn’t be sustainable.
Another option for the US would be a massive ground invasion to occupy the entire country. But the anticipation of a high level of casualty and costs makes this option highly undesirable for the US.
So the only remaining option would be diplomacy. The path that should have been taken in the first place.
