was looking in my husbands desk for something that would tell me if he was having an affair or not because I felt like he might be. I don’t enjoy snooping for the very reason that I hate paperwork and I have so much stuff of my own to go through the last thing I want to do is go through other peoples junk, but this was different. So…I found a legal size yellow notepad way in the back of the middle desk drawer under his plastic organizer.

Sure enough, he wrote about how he met this “guy” at a restaurant in Berkley down at the Marina and how they had a romantic dinner and walked on the beach after dinner and talked about what they wanted for the future. Well…I wasn’t fooled by the “guys” name, I figured it was code for some woman in case I found this yellow pad-he would tell me it was a joke or something. So, I didn’t say anything to him at first, but every couple days I would pull out his yellow pad journal when he was gone and catch up on his sneaking out on me. Omg, they did all sorts of things, here and there, and eventually how great the sex was and all that. I was heartbroken, I lost my husband. It was surreal. Well, guess what? It really was a man he was seeing, swear to God. I guess my hubby was coming out and facing the fact that he was homosexual. This was a 6′4″ macho man, I mean you wouldn’t think for a minute he was gay. Of course, now that I say that I remember my mom telling me he was gay on my wedding day but I thought she was being mean. She had been in an industry where she had a ton of gay friends and she was adamant that he was gay. No one, I mean no one, agreed with her.

Eventually, all the gay talk from her went away and I forgot about it and for the next 9 years we raised our blended family like everything was hunkie dorrie. We met this “swinger” couple in our 8th year of marriage and that was the end of us (well, he did, I didn’t want anything to do with them and they were like predators stalking us-horrible). They made it ok for him to do whatever he wanted sexually and he got in touch with his true self. The story goes on and on, but that is it in a nutshell. He found his true love, walking on the beach in the moonlight, making plans for the future while I was home taking care of the kids, his and mine, running a huge preschool also.
I have lots of gay friends and I believe everyone has a choice on who to choose for a life partner, my complaint was that he set me up, not that he was gay, and he and his boyfriend took everything from me. If you think losing your husband to a woman is bad, let me tell you, a gay guy who wants your man is more deadly than a viper. That was horrible.
