What’s the scariest thing that you have observed while looking out a vehicle window?

This was not from a vehicle, but it is about a vehicle:

I was at my sister’s 2nd floor apartment looking out the front window into the parking lot. The parking lot was pretty inactive; not a lot of activity going on. A toddler was riding a “Big Wheels” tricycle up and won the parking lot in front of the building (no cars parked along the building side). I remember thinking that it was something i would probably have done when I was little.

A man from our building walked out he front, down the steps, and seemed to be in a hurry. He seemed a little irritated with the kid riding the Big Wheel but simply walked around and past the kid.

Man got into his car (which I recall was a Buick Riviera- big car) starts it up. When he begins backing out of his spot, the toddler is right behind the car. I banged on the window, hollering to watch out!. But of course the driver can’t hear me. The car was large enough that the Big Wheel was completely under the car and the kid had gotten knocked off. Then the car stopped backing, and drove off. I was surprised that the man didn’t hear his car make contact with the tricycle because he pushed it about 3 or 4 feet.

Thank goodness, the child narrowly missed having the tires roll over him and was not harmed. The mother then came outside and was irritated with the child for crying, unaware that her child had nearly gotten crushed.

This all happened in just moments – too quickly for me to do anything to stop it. I was going to tell the mother what happened but she and the child were nowhere to be seen before I could get down there.
