This is an incomplete question. No budget or price range mentioned.

Anyway here goes my recommendation list w.r.t. price. I have personally used many of these models myself for sometime, and they are all hot commodity in the market at this time. My preferred OS is Android, I don’t like the Windows mobile platform and as such I don’t keep track of Windows phones specially the Nokia Lumia series although they may appeal to you equally. Inconvenience regretted. Also, here I am not taking past years’ phones into account in general except the most popular ones which are still almost ‘fresh’ in the market. Mostly the hot and happening ones have been listed.

Please verify the exact prices with your preferred stores offline or online. Mentioned price ranges are approximate and to the best of my limited knowledge at the time of this writing. Variations may be there.

* Around the 5k price mark, Motorolla Moto E (2nd Gen), Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Micromax Yu Yuphoria are your best bets.

* Within and around 10k Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, Micromax Yu Yureka and Honor 4X are worthy phones.

* In the 10k-15k range go for Xiaomi Mi 4i or Asus Zenfone 2 (2GB RAM).

* Around the 20k price range Asus Zenfone 2 (4GB RAM – my current phone) and Xiaomi Mi4 seem to be the best value smartphones. Also Hwauei Honor 6 is a worthy mention.

* In the 20k-25k range, go for OnePlus One (64GB ROM) hands down, or the Motorola Moto X (2nd Gen) if you like. Yes the latter’s price has been cut and is near to 22k now. Though its a little short on specs compared to 2015 standards but still it’s a very popular phone at this time.

* Near the 25k mark Hwauei Honor 6 Plus is a viable option. Some Sony Xperia phones may fancy you. Nexus 5 is also a popular option though old. Check it out. Also worth mentioning are Xiaomi Note and Note Pro though unreleased at this time.

* In the 30k-45k or so range you have many options like the Nexus 6, LG G4, LG G Flex 2, Motorola Droid Maxx and the various Sony Xperia Z series (Z2,Z3) flagships. In this range you’ll also find Samsung Galaxy Note series phones, which are very good.

* Above 50k its either this side or that (Apple or Samsung i.e. iOS or Android) and so the options are iPhone 6, 6s and the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge.

This is only a rough estimate. Other good phones exist specially in the 25k-50k mark which I may have forgotten to mention but hopefully this gives you a somewhat clear picture of the top models in the market right now. Do your research and invest according to your priorities.

N.B. – I haven’t endorsed/rejected any brand(s) here although I have my favorites. Only particular handsets standing out in the crowd have been mentioned which I felt were worth mentioning. If you feel a brand has been given more preference or less, its unintentional.

Thank you!
