In the absence of the United States, I will be supporting a few teams—

Russian Federation

Every World Cup, I always support the host nation.

Considering Russia’s draw with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay in Group A, Russia actually have a good chance at getting into the knockout stages for the first time, and if they’re really lucky, the Quarter-Finals.

I would love to see the Russian team do well, and bring pride to Russia and her people. Poyekhali Rossiya!

The German football team is one of the strongest, most talented national teams in modern history.

As defending champions in Russia, I will cheer on Deutschland to make history, and become the third team after Brazil and Italy to successfully defend the FIFA World Cup.

Four years ago, the host nation Brazil was humiliated by Germany 7–1 in the semi-final. Now they’re back, led by none other than Neymar Jr, and they’re better than ever before.

Brazil, the spiritual home of the beautiful game, will hope to destroy the ghost of Belo Horizonte and raise the trophy in Moscow for the first time in 16 years, and I would like to see them do so!

Les Bleus had their hearts crushed by Portugal in the Euro 2016 final. This summer in Russia, France hope to celebrate their 20 year anniversary of their first World Cup title- by raising the trophy once more.

With good players like Antoine Griezmann, Dimitri Payet, Oliver Giroud, France have their best chance at a World Cup since 2006.

Lionel Messi, the man, the myth, the legend. He has led Argentina to three consecutive international championship finals, but sadly, lost all three.

Argentina are more hungry than ever for a World Cup trophy, and Russia just might be their time- Messi’s time.

There has never been a greater upset in FIFA World Cup history than France, defending European and World Cup champions, beaten by Senegal, a West African nation playing in their first World Cup.

Senegal didn’t stop there, they went all the way to to Quarter-Finals.

It’s been 16 years since their magical run in South Korea, and West Africa’s lions will hope to roar once again.

Of these teams, I believe Brazil, Germany, and France have the best chance, and one of those three teams will lift the World Cup.

And I hope it’s Brazil.
