  1. I am glad you asked this question. The following are the reasons I’ve heard people give for their hatred towards CSK:

    1) Some fans believe that MS Dhoni is the sole reason for the retirements of legends like Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar (in ODIs) who have been childhood favorites for most of the them.

    2) Hatred towards ‘Sir’ Ravindra Jadeja, who many people believe is the sole cause of exit from 3 T20 International World Cups.

    3) As someone else has already pointed out that Mr. Srinivasan, the BCCI Head, is also the owner of CSK which causes the rules tilted towards CSK. For Eg: Prohibiting Sri Lankan players from playing in Chennai. This has caused teams to field a weaker side against them. This has outraged fans of SRH, DD and MI particularly.

    4) Some people are reminded of Australia due to their jersey color.

    5) Some people don’t like Chennai because of the humid weather therefore they hate CSK.

    6) Selection of players from CSK in the Indian National Team is sometimes unjustified. Eg: Murali Vijay being selected for Champions Trophy at the expense of Ajinkya Rahane who was in a better form.

    7) Some people find their theme song ‘Whistle Podu’ highly irritating.

    8) I am studying in a college in Tamil Nadu so the most local fans in my college support CSK which a lot of people find irritating.

    9) Because CSK defeated their team in Semis or Finals in one of the previous seasons of IPL.

    10) Because CSK is the most balanced team.

    11) Because supporting CSK is too mainstream and some people like to support the other teams.

    12) Players sold by CSK (Eg: MS Gony to KXIP) didn’t perform well while players sold to CSK (Eg: Dwayne Bravo by MI) perform exceptionally well.

    Edit:

    13) They still won the ‘Spirit of the Game’ award even after fixing allegations against the team owner.
