Why don’t we farm elephants for meat and ivory the same way we farm other livestock?

I used to go to a gourmet shop in Palo Alto, CA. that carried all kinds of weird products starting a canned rattle snake meat and on up to canned elephant. If they tried that today tree huggers would burn it to the ground. There is even a ‘old elephants sanctuary’ .Times have changed and what is acceptable has changed too. As a kid I can remember dead whaled being towed into San Francisco and then hauled up flensing ways to be stripped of blubber and converted into pet food. Can you imagine some idiot harpooning a whale and then towing it into San Francisco today? Probably be safer to hold a anti gay KKK meeting on the Marina Green.
