Why is it OK to farm cows and pigs, but not to farm elephants for ivory?

Reproductive rates.

Pigs mature at 0.5 years & have 20 babies per year.
Cows mature at 2 years & have 1 baby per year.
Elephants mature at 10 years & have 0.13 babies per year. *Two years of gestation and 5 years of calving.
You kill one elephant, you’ve ended 20 years of effort.
